Chloris Consulting
I’m interested in ensuring people make the most from their working practices. Whether that’s finding the right job to enhance job satisfaction and work-life balance, hiring the right person to expand your organisation, or developing workplace cultural norms through training.
To succeed in each of these areas requires communication, curiosity and a willingness to learn about yourself and others.
About me:
Hello! My name is Karla Gahan. I grew up and live in Newcastle, Australia however worked in the UK for 23 years. During that time, I developed my career in risk, resilience, and crisis management across various sectors, working with people globally. My job has enabled me to meet, manage, train, recruit, mentor and develop a diverse cohort and I’m passionate about sharing these skills with others.
I hold several voluntary positions including being a board trustee for a charity, and regularly present webinars and deliver training.
Chloris is the mythological Greek goddess of flowers and the season of Spring. I started Chloris Consulting because I want to help you grow and develop just like those flowers having a fresh start in Spring. That might be by:
- Providing you with the confidence to give the best interview possible for your dream job.
- Hiring the best person possible for your organisation.
- Offering training to your people.
By choosing to work with me, you will benefit from my experience of working with global organisations and understanding how to tailor solutions to your specific requirements. I understand how it feels to be on both sides of the interviewing process and want to share with you the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way to make things easier for you to find the job that brings you fulfillment. I also know how important engaging training can be when aiming to shift cultural practices.
Interview Services
Whether you are just starting out and interviewing for your first job, moving to the next stage of your career, or heading towards the top of the ladder, I’m keen to help you achieve your goal of being offered the role that you want.
Alternatively, you might need to recruit people and not know where to start. I can help you with that too.
Throughout my career in both Australia and the UK, I have interviewed countless candidates for all kinds of roles, from entry level to C-Suite positions, and I want to share my experience to give you:
- The tools you need to be able to answer behaviourally based questions at interview.
- An understanding of what organisations are looking for and why so that you can position yourself to give them what they want and need.
- The confidence to present yourself in the best way possible to land the job you want.
Interviews are a two-way conversation. They are your opportunity to help you understand whether this potential job fits your lifestyle and career aspirations as much as it is for the organisation to understand more about whether you are right for them. Interview coaching helps give you the skills and confidence to be able to present yourself in the optimum light to prospective employers and make the best decisions on the jobs to enhance your life.
Training Services
Providing internal training sessions can be challenging to do well. Sometimes having an external speaker can help to reinforce your key messages and themes, especially when trying to highlight behavioural or cultural shifts.
I have trained and presented to hundreds of teams and groups of all sizes, from varying sectors both in person and online. The groups have included Boards and Senior Leadership teams; incident response teams; students; factory floor workers, industry professionals, and internal teams (located in one or multiple sites globally). I have also provided tailored individual training for leaders where needed to help them share knowledge and skills with their teams.
Examples of training I can help with include:
- Presentations
- Workshops
- Scenario based exercises
Given my background in risk management and business continuity and resilience, I can offer expert sessions on subjects such as:
- Unconscious bias (for example Diversity & Inclusion, team building, leadership or risk management sessions)
- Psychological Safety (for example health and safety, leadership or team buiding sessions)
- Incident respnse and team dynamics
- Risk and resilience culture
